Title: (No longer) Spam bots and registration method...
Post by: Snake on June 16, 2011, 04:54:10 PM
Due to the increased number of spam bots in the past days, we have temporarily set the registration method to be approved by administrators.
If you're new, please be patient while we approve your account. Shouldn't take more than a day.

Thanks.

Snake, contact me on MSN some time and I may be able to help you with that. Also, the forum needs to be upgraded to SMF 2.0 Gold. :)

Currently using a module that catches and stops them bots from registering.. Seems to be working well.
Will re-set registration method back to normal in some days, if this module passes testing.

I personally do not see the need to 2.0 anymore... 1.x is very nice, keeps it simple and useful.

Registration method is set back to normal. Bots should be rare cases now.

Thanks for your patience.

Wtf ?! another bot ?

Must've slipped through the module. Been banned and message removed.

Some will still regulary come.. the module can't do magic. But it ain't gonna get close to what it was a few weeks ago.
We will handle those cases manually. :)

Why change what already works?

Why change what already works?
Because right now it relies on users paying attention, and you've already seen bots get through :P
